Various K-pop idols have been confirmed to make their Broadway debut!
On March 30, the producers of the new musical “KPOP” announced that f(x)’s Luna would be making her Broadway debut in the series later this year.
On April 4, the show announced three more K-pop stars in the cast, all of whom will make their Broadway debuts. They include Min, formerly of Miss A, Kevin Woo, formerly of U-KISS, and Kim Bohyung, formerly of SPICA and KEEMBO.
“KPOP” is Broadway’s first musical about Korean culture and follows the story of various stars who put everything on the line for a one-night gig only, when a singer’s inner struggle threatens to dismantle the one of the biggest labels in the industry.
An earlier version of the show played off-Broadway, and the new version of “KPOP” will open on Broadway this fall. The full cast also includes Julia Abueva, Will Brill, Major Curda, Joo Min Hwang, Jin Woo Jung, Ji Ho Kang, Amy Keum, James Kho, Eddy Lee, Jully Lee, Timothy H. Lee, Abraham Lim, Kate Mina Lin, Aubie Merrylees, Patrick Park and John Yi.
Previews for “KPOP” are set to begin on October 13 at the Circle in the Square Theater in New York, and the musical’s opening night will be on November 20.
