Shortly after celebrating their fifth birthday, South Korean boy band NCT 127 released their third album, Sticker, which mixes a myriad of influences such as R&B and pop in their dance anthems.

Known for the diversity of their music, the group, unsurprisingly, adopts an eclectic sound here, although it gives mixed results.

For example, the R&B-sounding Focus exudes a hypnotic energy, while the hip-hop number Bring The Noize impresses with its straightforward attitude.

But mixing things up doesn’t really work on the title song, which changes register so often that it’s hard to follow. The song also has a lingering flute melody that comes out for the wrong reasons.

The nine active members of the group clearly each have their own unique style, but sometimes holding back can perhaps result in more cohesive offerings.
