NEW DELHI: South Korean music sensation BTS said on Friday that their new English single ‘Butter’ did not hint at a future collaboration with iconic British rockers Queen, but that they were just a call away .

The British rock band had sparked reports of a possible collaboration by giving a tribute to the Korean group’s latest single by adding lyrics from their 1980 classic track “Another One Bites The Dust” to their caption in a now-deleted tweet.

BTS shared the tweet on their official Twitter but then deleted it, leading fans to speculate that “Butter” could sample Queen’s track or collaborate on a project.

Speaking at a global press conference from Seoul after the release of “Butter,” K-pop group frontman RM said it wasn’t.

“For Queen, they’re seniors. Of course, when we were at Wembley Stadium, that’s when ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (Queen’s biopic) was really popular in South Korea at night, but it was neither a sample nor a tribute. I can say that with certainty. ”

Jin, a member of the group, said, “We have no plan on this. Of course, if there is an opportunity, they can call us. We are still waiting. Please, Reine – call. us. We are always ready. ”

“Butter” is the septet’s second English song – featuring RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, all in their twenties – following their hit single “Dynamite” last year.

BTS’s new track, acronym for Bangtan Sonyeondan or ‘Beyond the Scene’, has been described by their label, HYBE, as’ brimming with positive and luminous energy ‘with a choreography reflecting the band’s trademark’ combination of dances. of group and unit executed with ultra-precise precision “.

The group will perform “Butter” for the first time at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards on May 23 where they will be nominated in four categories.

At the global press conference, the group hoped that “Butter” would become the summer song of 2021.
